Before I begin my Christmas recap post, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of the holiday. It isn't about Santa, Elf on the Shelf, or presents. Do we do all of those things? Yes for fun. But the true meaning is in what Christ did for us. In church today, it was said that Jesus just being born wasn't what gives people hope. It is how he lived and died for us so that we can live again. I have always been taught that Christmas is an important day of the year, but we should think on Christ everyday and appreciate that sacrifice every day, not just one time a year.
Also Christmas is a time for
FAMILY. It is always a hard day without Blake. He was always so fun. He loved to pull pranks. I could handle him in small doses. Ha! It seems unnatural to bury a sibling. Especially one so young. I can honestly say, parents aren't supposed to bury their children. My parents' hearts were broken, but the Lord has sent us the Comforter to grant us peace. I started this blog to help get my feelings out about the tragic loss of my brother. I just had so much bottled up that needed released. In the mean time, I have made some wonderful blog friends. I am truly blessed for that. I thought my Mom would be the only one who would read my "stuff."

Tuesday the 22nd, my side of the family came over for food, fun, and to exchange gifts. I also wanted to meet my niece, Mallory's fiancee. He was adorable. I think they will be very happy together.
On Wednesday the 23rd, I was scheduled to have an ultrasound at the hospital. I have been keeping a secret from you. I didn't want anyone to worry unnecessarily. On the 17th and 18th of this month, I started having horrible pains in my chest. I thought I was having a heart attack. I went to our school nurse and she checked my blood pressure. It was perfect. No matter what position I got in, the pain wouldn't stop. On Friday, I started having pain so badly that I started having contractions. It hurt so much, it took me to the ground. I called my clinic and got in to see a doctor, but it wasn't my doctor. He checked the baby. Everything was fine with the baby. He scheduled an ultrasound for me at the hospital to check my gallbladder and liver. To say that I was a basket case was an understatement. I didn't want to lose this baby. I didn't want to hurt anymore either. Unfortunately, my ultrasound wasn't until Wed. Before I left I asked the nurses if I need to fast or anything. They said no. Thara went with me to the appointment. Of course they do all of the paperwork first. Then I waited about 45 minutes for my turn. The nurse came out and asked if I had eaten anything. I told her yes. She said that we wouldn't be doing the procedure then. I held my cool. She just told me that I had to reschedule and where in the world did I get the idea that I didn't have to fast. I told her a nurse. No ultrasound has been done. I haven't had anymore problems either. I am taking it easy though.

Christmas Eve we drove to Little Rock in the pouring rain. It is always fun visiting with Thara's side of the family. Mary-Kate has cousins she can actually play with. (My nieces and nephews range from 28 to 15 and then one 2 year old. I do have a niece that is 2 years old, but she lives in Texas and we don't get to see her often.) Mary-Kate got some pet shop toys and a really neat ornament. Her Papa and Nana got her all kinds of clothes, ornaments, and a really soft blanket. My parents came over once we got home and we exchanged gifts. They had gotten MK clothes, ornaments, a doll, and color by number activity, and Kung Fu Panda, the movie. Of course they got her other stuff too.
Christmas Day was so low key. The grandparents came over to see what Santa had gotten for MK. She got a Barbie head, a castle, a Strawberry Shortcake doll (small) a horse and rider (Barbie size) and some movies. She said, "All I asked Santa for was a Barbie head, he brought me things I didn't even know I wanted."
We had gotten her a train set, Lincoln logs, a baby doll, and a dump truck. I know you are laughing, but these are things she asked for. She loves building things with her dad. She loves hauling things in her truck. I just laugh. She is very balanced don't worry. She loves dressing up like a princess and she always has a baby doll on her hip.
